Injection Moulding Machines for Industrial Packaging
Pratishna Engineers makes injection moulding machines extensively used for producing plastic packaging for paints, lubricants, chemicals, adhesives and bulk food ingredients. Typical parts include paint and lube pails, tamper-evident pail lids, square tubs, jerry-can caps, drum bungs, spouts, dispensing taps and security seals, which must pass drop, stack and leak tests as part of a complete container and closure system.
Pratishna Engineers is one of the top and trusted injection moulding machine manufacturers for industrial packaging in India. With 35+ years of experience from its Mumbai facility, the company has supplied 9,000+ machines to 1,000+ customers, offering container and two-platen machines for pails, lids, closures and drum fittings, backed by in-house engineering and after-sales support.
The right machine depends on the component, plastic material, part weight, mould size, number of cavities and production volume. Pails and lids are large, thin-wall parts in PP copolymer or HDPE, sized at roughly 0.4 to 0.6 tons of clamping force per square centimetre of projected area, with deep moulds that need a long opening stroke. Caps, bungs and taps are certified sealing parts, so thread form, gasket seat and tamper-evident band dimensions must repeat on every shot.

Industrial Packaging Plastic Components
A range of pail, closure, drum fitting and dispensing components can be manufactured on Pratishna injection moulding machines:
Paint Pail (5–20 L open-head pail with lid and handle)
Lube Container (5–20 L lubricant pail and closed-head container)
Jerry-Can Cap (DIN 51, DIN 61 / S60 × 6)
Pail and Tub Lid with Tamper-Evident Ring (up to 10 L)
Thin-wall Square Container / Tub (1–5 L)
Drum Bung and Bunghole Plug (2 inch and 3/4 inch BSP)
Spout, Pourer and Vented Closure
Dispensing Tap / Valve (jerrycan and bag-in-box)
Pail Bail Handle Grip and Handle Components
Screw Cap and Closure for Lube and Chemical Bottles (28–63 mm)
Security Seal and Tamper-Evident Locking Device
Recommended Machines for Industrial Packaging Components
Pail lids, square tubs, jerry-can caps, spouts and bottle closures are high-speed, thin-wall parts suited to the C Series (140-320 T), built for container making. Drum bungs, dispensing taps, handle grips and security seals are small parts suited to the E Series in multi-cavity moulds. Paint and lube pails have large projected areas and deep moulds, and suit the PHM Series two-platen machines, subject to pail size. The right machine depends on projected area, mould height, cavities and output.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
The answers our engineers give most often about moulding industrial packaging components.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used for Paint and Lube Pails?
Pails are selected by volume, projected area, wall thickness and mould height, and the pail, lid and handle grip are three separate moulds quoted as a set. Smaller and mid-size pails suit PHM Series two-platen machines, while 20 L in-mould-labelled pails need higher tonnage and should be checked against the mould size first. Can Pratishna Machines Produce Jerry-Can Caps and Bottle Closures?
Yes. DIN 51 and DIN 61 jerry-can caps and 28 to 63 mm screw closures in HDPE or PP are produced in high-cavity hot runner moulds on C Series machines. The tamper-evident band and liner seat are the critical dimensions. What Plastic Materials Are Used for Industrial Packaging?
Common materials include PP copolymer and IML-grade PP for pails, lids and tubs, virgin HDPE for lube containers, caps and drum bungs where chemical resistance matters, LDPE for flexible spouts and liners, POM for tap mechanisms and PA66 for security seals, with recycled PP or HDPE blends where the approval allows.Which Tonnage Is Suitable for Pail Lids and Square Tubs?
It depends on lid diameter, tub size and cavities. A pail lid is a large flat area and can need as much tonnage as the pail body. Lids up to 10 L and 1 to 5 L square tubs usually run on C Series machines.
Can These Machines Produce Drum Bungs and Dispensing Taps?
Yes. 2 inch and 3/4 inch BSP drum bungs and jerrycan or bag-in-box taps in HDPE, PP or POM can be moulded on E Series machines. Thread form, gasket seat and sealing tolerance must hold, since these parts are approved together with a specific container. How Do You Mould Packaging That Passes UN and Leak Tests?
UN ratings apply to the container with its specified closure and gasket as one system, so resin grade, wall thickness and closure dimensions must stay fixed. Stable process settings, controlled regrind and dimensional checks on threads and seats keep each lot within the tested specification. Lube bottles of 1 to 5 L are usually blow moulded, and only their caps, spouts and handles are injection moulded.Which Pratishna Series Suits Industrial Packaging Applications?
The C Series (140-320 T) suits lids, tubs, caps and spouts, the E Series suits bungs, taps, grips and seals, and the PHM Series (160-350 T) covers paint and lube pails, subject to size. How Do I Get a Machine Recommendation for My Packaging Component?
