Injection Moulding Machines for Luminaire & Lighting Fixture Parts
Pratishna Engineers builds injection moulding machines widely used for producing plastic parts for luminaires and lighting fixtures used in homes, offices, factories and outdoor lighting. Typical parts include CFL and lamp bodies, tube light end caps and gear trays, LED potting boxes, diffusers, downlight housings and trims, street light housing parts and cable glands, which must survive driver heat, UV exposure and years of thermal cycling.
Pratishna Engineers is one of the top and trusted injection moulding machine manufacturers for luminaire and lighting fixture parts in India. Operating from Mumbai for 35+ years, the company has supplied 9,000+ machines to 1,000+ customers, with machines for indoor, industrial and outdoor lighting components, backed by in-house engineering and after-sales support.
The right machine depends on the component, plastic material, part weight, mould size, number of cavities and production volume. Driver compartments in high-bay, recessed and outdoor fittings run at 80 to 120 degrees C, so housings use FR PC, PBT-GF, PA66-GF or PPO/PPE that hold their properties at that temperature, and outdoor parts need UV-stabilised grades. Diffusers need uniform wall thickness and low moulded-in stress, or the light shows hot spots.

Lighting & Electrical Plastic Components
A range of luminaire housing, optic, driver enclosure and fixture accessory components can be manufactured on Pratishna injection moulding machines:
CFL Holder (CFL lamp body / base housing carrying the ballast and cap)
Tube Light Fixture (batten housing, end caps, brackets, gear tray)
LED Potting Box
LED Diffuser and Optic Cover
Downlight / Spotlight Housing and Trim
Street Light / Outdoor Luminaire Housing Parts and Gear Tray
Cable Gland, Strain Relief and Fixture Accessory
Recommended Machines for Lighting Fixture Components
CFL and lamp bodies, LED potting boxes, diffusers, cable glands and tube light end caps and brackets are small to medium parts suited to the E Series (75-180 T). Downlight housings, street light housing parts, gear trays and moulded batten housings may need the H Series. Lamp bodies made in urea formaldehyde or BMC thermoset are evaluated for a Special Purpose machine.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
The answers our engineers give most often about moulding luminaire and lighting fixture components.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used for Tube Light and Batten Fittings?
On most batten and tube fittings the long body is extruded aluminium or PC, and the moulded parts are end caps, gear trays, driver boxes, brackets and reflectors. End caps and brackets run on E Series machines in multi-cavity moulds, while gear trays and moulded batten housings may need H Series machines. Can Pratishna Machines Produce LED Diffusers and Optic Covers?
Yes. Diffusers and optic covers in diffusion-grade PC, PMMA or PP can be produced on E Series machines with dried material, a polished mould and a gate placed to avoid flow lines. PMMA transmits more light but is brittle on ejection, while PC is tougher, so the choice depends on the fitting. What Plastic Materials Are Used for Luminaire Parts?
Common materials include FR PC, PC/ABS and FR ABS for housings and end caps, PBT-GF, PA66-GF and PPO/PPE for potting boxes and driver enclosures, thermally conductive PC for downlight cans, UV-stabilised FR PC and PC/ASA for outdoor parts, and PA6, PA66 and TPE for cable glands and seals.Which Tonnage Is Suitable for Street Light and Downlight Housings?
It depends on housing size, wall thickness and projected area. Downlight housings and trims may suit the upper E Series range, while street light housing parts and gear trays usually need H Series machines. Large road-lighting bodies are usually die-cast aluminium rather than moulded.
Can These Machines Produce LED Potting Boxes and Cable Glands?
Yes. Potting boxes and cable glands are small parts made in multi-cavity moulds on E Series machines. The potting box resin must stay bonded to the potting compound across thermal cycles, and glands must hold their seal, since both carry the fitting’s IP rating. How Do You Mould Lighting Parts for Heat and Outdoor Use?
Select a resin rated for the driver compartment temperature and the required glow-wire class, and use UV-stabilised grades for outdoor parts, since standard FR PC yellows in sunlight. Dry the material, hold melt temperature within the grade limits and keep sealing faces flat to achieve the IP rating.Which Pratishna Series Suits Lighting & Electrical Applications?
The E Series (75-180 T) suits most lamp bodies, optics, potting boxes and accessories, while the H Series covers larger housings and gear trays. Thermoset lamp bodies are evaluated for a Special Purpose machine. How Do I Get a Machine Recommendation for My Lighting Component?
