Injection Moulding Machine Manufacturer — Andheri East, Mumbai, India

Injection-moulded medical sector components

Injection Moulding Machines for Medical Products & Devices

Pratishna Engineers manufactures injection moulding machines that produce plastic medical disposables, diagnostic and laboratory plastics, pharma packaging and device components. Typical parts include syringe barrels and plungers, IV set components, luer fittings, pipette tips, rapid test cassettes, specimen containers, device housings, trays and vial closures, most of which are made by manufacturers working under ISO 13485 with validated processes and controlled production areas.

Pratishna Engineers is one of the top and trusted injection moulding machine manufacturers for medical products in India. With 35+ years of experience from its Mumbai facility, the company has supplied 9,000+ machines to 1,000+ customers, offering hybrid, horizontal, vertical and two-platen machines for medical disposables, diagnostics and device parts, backed by in-house engineering and after-sales support.

The right machine depends on the component, plastic material, part weight, mould size, number of cavities and production volume. Medical parts are moulded in medical-grade PP, PC, PS, COP and COC with lot traceability, and critical features such as luer tapers, orifices and graduation lines are proven by IQ, OQ and PQ validation rather than by inspection alone. That requires a machine that repeats injection, pressure and temperature within tight limits, and a set-up suited to the manufacturer’s cleanroom or controlled moulding area.

Recommended Machines for Medical Components

Precision parts such as syringe barrels and plungers, luer fittings, fluid connectors, pipette tips, test cassettes, microplates, inhaler actuators, droppers, vial closures and pen injector parts suit the Hybrid machines, whose servo-driven injection gives the shot-to-shot repeatability that validation depends on, subject to cavity count. Device housings, specimen containers, veterinary syringes and medication and laboratory trays suit the E Series or H Series, and larger sharps disposal bins suit the PHM Series two-platen machines. Needle and catheter hubs moulded over a steel cannula suit the Vertical machines, and two-material parts such as oxygen mask connectors and surgical instrument handles with soft grips are evaluated for a Special Purpose machine.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

The answers our engineers give most often about moulding medical components.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used for Syringe Barrels and Plungers?
Syringe barrels and plungers are moulded in medical-grade PP with hot runner tools, where cavity count rather than part size decides the machine. Hybrid machines suit lower and mid cavity counts that need repeatable shot weight and wall thickness, while very high-cavity syringe tools of 64 cavities and above need larger machines and should be checked against the mould size first.
  • Can Pratishna Machines Produce Luer Fittings, IV Set Parts and Connectors?
Yes. Luer locks, luer slips, caps, drip chambers, roller clamps, spikes, Y-sites and stopcocks in medical-grade PP, PC, ABS or POM can be produced on Hybrid or E Series machines. Luer tapers follow ISO 80369 and are safety-critical, so the process is validated along with the mould.
  • What Plastic Materials Are Used for Medical Products?
Common materials include medical-grade PP and PE for disposables and closures, PC and ABS for housings and connectors, PS for petri dishes, cassettes and plates, COP and COC for high-clarity and drug-contact parts, PET for blood collection tubes, POM, PBT and PA12 for mechanisms, and PSU or PEEK for reusable parts that are autoclaved.
  • Which Tonnage Is Suitable for Sharps Bins and Medical Trays?
It depends on part size, projected area and cavities. Medication and laboratory trays and device housings usually run on E or H Series machines, while sharps disposal bins have large projected areas and suit PHM Series two-platen machines, with larger bins checked against the mould size first.
  • Can These Machines Produce Needle Hubs and Catheter Hubs?
Yes. Hubs moulded over a steel cannula suit Vertical machines, where the cannula is loaded into the lower mould half and held in position for each shot. Bond and pull-out strength between hub and cannula is the tested feature, so the process must be validated.
  • How Should Machines Be Set Up for Medical Moulding?
Medical moulding is usually done in a cleanroom or controlled area under ISO 13485, with material lot traceability, validated process windows and documented machine settings. The machine type, drive, auxiliaries and placement for your moulding area should be discussed at the enquiry stage so the set-up supports your validation plan.
  • Which Pratishna Series Suits Medical Applications?
Hybrid machines suit precision disposables and diagnostics, the E and H Series cover housings, containers and trays, and the PHM Series (160-350 T) covers sharps bins. Vertical machines suit insert-moulded hubs, and two-material parts are evaluated for a Special Purpose machine.
