Injection Moulding Machines for Railway Components
Injection moulding machines from Pratishna Engineers are widely used in manufacturing plastic components for railway track, rolling stock and signalling. Typical parts include glass-filled nylon rail clip insulators and liners, sleeper dowels, rail pads, insulated joint parts, coach interior trim, grab handle brackets, tray table hinges, HVAC grilles, rail electrical housings and trackside enclosures, made to RDSO specifications for Indian Railways and to EN 45545-2 for fire safety where required.
Pratishna Engineers is one of the top and trusted injection moulding machine manufacturers for railway components in India. With 35+ years of experience from its Mumbai facility, the company has supplied 9,000+ machines to 1,000+ customers, offering horizontal and two-platen machines for track, coach interior and rail electrical parts, backed by in-house engineering and after-sales support.
The right machine depends on the component, plastic material, part weight, mould size, number of cavities and production volume. Track parts such as insulators, liners and dowels are moulded in PA6-GF or PA66-GF and judged on dimensional stability under load, moisture and UV. Coach parts use flame-retardant PP, PC, PA and PBT, and EN 45545-2 fire certification is specific to the moulded wall thickness, so the process and part geometry must stay fixed once approved.

Trackside and Signalling Enclosure Components
Recommended Machines for Railway Components
Rail clip insulators, liners, guide plates, sleeper dowels, insulated joint parts, cable cleats, coach fittings, grab handle brackets, tray table hinges, amenity fittings and rail electrical housings are small to medium parts suited to the E Series (75-180 T). HVAC louvres and grilles, rail pads and trackside enclosures have larger projected areas and may need the H Series. Larger coach interior parts such as seat shells and luggage rack sections suit the PHM Series two-platen machines, subject to size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
The answers our engineers give most often about moulding railway components.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used for Rail Clip Insulators and GFN Liners?
Insulators, liners and guide plates for E-clip, SKL and Nabla fastening systems are moulded in PA6-GF or PA66-GF with 20 to 35 percent glass. A machine is selected by part size, shot weight and cavities, and these parts usually run on E Series machines with a wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled nylon. Can Pratishna Machines Produce Coach Interior Parts?
Yes. Interior trim, bezels, cover caps, grab handle brackets, tray table hinges and toilet module fittings run on E Series machines, and HVAC grilles on H Series machines. Larger seat shells and luggage rack parts suit PHM Series two-platen machines, while full wall and ceiling panels are larger and should be checked against the mould size first. What Plastic Materials Are Used for Railway Parts?
Common materials include PA6-GF and PA66-GF for track insulators and liners, PA6, PA66 and HDPE for sleeper dowels, HDPE, EVA and TPEE for rail pads, FR PP, FR PC, FR PA6 and FR PBT for coach interiors and electrical parts, PPS and PEI for high-performance parts, and UV-stabilised PC or PC/ASA for trackside enclosures.Which Tonnage Is Suitable for Rail Pads and Trackside Enclosures?
It depends on part size, thickness and projected area. HDPE, EVA and TPEE rail pads and trackside enclosure parts usually run on H Series machines. Rubber and EPDM pads are vulcanised by compression moulding and are not injection moulded.
Can These Machines Produce Sleeper Dowels and Cable Cleats?
Yes. Sleeper dowels in PA6, PA66 or HDPE and cable cleats, clips and saddles in FR nylon are high-volume parts run in multi-cavity moulds on E Series machines. Dowels are accepted on thread-forming and pull-out tests, so dimensions must stay consistent. How Do You Mould Railway Parts That Meet Fire Standards?
EN 45545-2 classifies each part by its requirement set and hazard level, and certification is specific to the moulded thickness. Test on parts from the production mould, freeze the material grade, colourant and process once approved, and validate impact and load on moulded parts, since flame-retardant additives lower impact strength.Which Pratishna Series Suits Railway Applications?
The E Series (75-180 T) suits track insulators, dowels, fittings and electrical parts, the H Series covers grilles, pads and enclosures, and the PHM Series (160-350 T) covers larger coach interior parts. How Do I Get a Machine Recommendation for My Railway Component?
